His Eminence, Somdet Phrabuddhacarya

Wat Sraket is one of Thailands royal monasteries. In the past, it was the residence for ethical monks that included Somdet Tanothia our late Supreme Patriarch. Somdet was a monk of dignity with recondite attainment in Buddhist knowledge, and was enshrined by the royal members at that time.
Presently, His Eminence Phrabuddhacarya, the President of Thailands Sangha Committee, borne in Suratthani, the South of Thailand is a residing abbot there, possessed both fortune and integrity as well as his spectacular contribution to the society, his prestige spreads internationally and he is respected by everyone! Due to his ethereal serenity and profound wisdom, he is regard as a national treasure by the people. His erudition and profound administrative capabilities in managing the Sangha is also much admired by mankind. As he attends to numerous affairs of Buddhism everyday, his good work are countless.

The Achievements of His Eminence, Somdet Phrabuddhacarya:

  • -Presently the assigned abbot of Wat Sraket.
  • -Bestowed as Eastern Patriarch who administers 23 provinces within the Northern Territories.
  • -The President of Oversea Propagating Committee, in charge of verifying and assigning missionary monks to propagate all over the world.
  • -Support Thais Buddhaland Temple in foreign countries, such as Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Netherlands, Norway, Finland, Iceland and so on.
  • -Acting as a committee member of Senior Buddhist Council for more than 20 years.Moreover, his great knowledge in Tipitaka is also very much esteemed by many scholars.     From the point view of preaching Buddha Dharma, he is endowed with the nature to debate without hindrance. He once delivered a speech about Treasure within Tipitaka. His subtle explanation and deduction was so permeating yet so simple! He encourages the development of Buddhist education, advocating the simultaneous execute to accumulate both wealth and wisdom. He furnished scholars with the understanding of Buddha Dharma as well as the way of practice. He hoped that foreigners could learn Buddha Dharma in Thailand and bring back the light of wisdom to all parts of the world.
